Question Categorizing big amount of data

hey, I have a problem with categorizing a large number of data. I have to categorize 48,000 item and the way I do now, it takes way too long. I type the category manually every time. Does someone have a faster way to to do this, maybe with a code for example?Stock_sample_20150609_1220.xlsx

How do you apply the categories now? Is there a column that you use to determine the category? If so, you could set up a table that lists the unique values in that column and what category applies to each, and then you can use a VLOOKUP formula.

I don't understand why your post count is zero - clearly, you have made at least one post!!

    Hope this helps.

VLOOKUP-formula would help if i got all category names written down. This i haven't because of the large amount of items.

by the way what do you mean with post count zero?

Re: Categorizing big amount of data

That's quite a list.. There are very few duplicates (309 out of 40,000 or so). I was hoping that there would be some way of extacting categories from the list. However, i don't see any pattern to the entries in column A that coud help. I suspect you have a MASSIVE job on your hands here., unless you can come up with some rules to enable us to pull categories out of the data in column A!!
