    Matching and highlighting pairs

    Hi everyone,

This is the first time I've posted in these forums, I'm an intermediate user of excel, but I cannot for the life of me figure out how to get my spreadsheet to function how I need it.

I work retail and we occasionally get shoes without pairs, or with a shoe of a different size. We call these mismates. I would like to get my sheet set up to automatically match up Pairs of shoes, and to highlight rows that match. The attached document shows a rough in of what the sheet would look like.

Basically I need the sheet to match both article number, and size, but match a left and right together. in the example row 2 and 5 are a mate, because the article and size match but are opposites feet.

Mismate.xlsxI'd love some help learning how to do this, I'm not just looking to have it done for me.

    I appreciate any help!!

The matching function works great, is there any way to highlight the entire row of the matching pair so that the helper column could be hidden?

    Re: Matching and highlighting pairs

i changed the conditional format in attached file
using a formula to determine formatting
basically if Column F is not blank
    Formula: copy to clipboard

    applies to
    =$A$2:$F$6

extend the applies to be the number of rows you want the conditional format to be
ie change F6 to say F100 if you want 100 rows
remember to keep the $ signs in
