    Auto Fill

    Hi Guys,

I'm trying to use the auto fill to recognize this pattern: =SUM(Orders!$C$19,Orders!$E$19,Orders!$G$19) =SUM(Orders!$C$32,Orders!$E$32,Orders!$G$32) =SUM(Orders!$C$45,Orders!$E$45,Orders!$G$45)

As you can see the columns stay the same and the rows just go up in increments of 13. Any advice on how to make Excel recognize the pattern?

    Thanks!

    Hi,
    Welcome to the forum.

You may use the Indirect Function to achieve this....

    Re: Auto Fill

Hey thanks for the prompt reply but i'm not sure i made myself that clear, the formular i've been using is =SUM(Orders!$C$19,Orders!$E$19,Orders!$G$19)and =SUM(Orders!$C$32,Orders!$E$32,Orders!$G$32) and =SUM(Orders!$C$45,Orders!$E$45,Orders!$G$45)and so on, which i want to copy down but its not recognizing the pattern. The colums always stay the same simply the number increases by 13 (as displayed above)
    Thanks

    The suggested formula

    is equivalent to

And when you copy it down to the next cell it will be equivalent to

    and so on.

Aren't you trying to achieve the same?

    Re: Auto Fill

When i use that formula suggested and pull down, the column rows dont change, simply the "ROWS(A$1:A1)" increases. All i need is the column rows to increase by 13 on each row.

    Thanks for your help.

    Re: Auto Fill

To test the formula, place the suggested formula in a column and copy it down. In the adjacent column, place your original formula by changing the cell references as required. You will find that both the formulas return the same values.

You must probably read about the Indirect function as well to know that how does it work.

    Re: Auto Fill

    Hi

I have no doubt it would produce same results, and yes the formula dose return the same results when i manually change the row numbers, But my original question was how do i make excel increase the number by +13 when i pull down. I have alot of data and cant do each single increment.

    Thanks
