Totalling number of instances for each type

I will try and explain this as best I can. In the example column A has regions, and column b has project type. So I have 3 different regions, and 3 types of projects going on at any one time. The data has to be presented in to columns as it is part of a larger tracker.

What I want to be able to do is create a stacked graph that shows total number of projects in region A, with the stacking showing a breakdown by project type. Then on the same graph, the same info for region B and C.

    Is this possible please?

    Example A.xlsxExample A.xlsx

Many thanks in advance, this is driving me nuts!!!

    Welcome to the forum...

hopefully this will help....I took your data and created a pivot table and then a pivot chart...
It seems to do what you want....

Re: Totalling number of instances for each type

Do you want help in putting the data in columns, or producing the graph (or both)?

    Pete

EDIT: Ah well, I went ahead and did both - see attached file.

    Hope this helps.
