    If Function or lookup

I am not sure If I can sort my table by Department and Shifts for calculating the amount of "Completed", "In Progress" and Not Attempted."
I used the COUNTIF(G$2:G$6,$D8) for calculating total, but when I am sorting the data by Shift and Dept, it doesn't work. If anybody can help me to understand what should I change to make it work.

    Thank you,

    Kateryna

    Re: If Function or lookup

Sorting doesn't affect the counts of "Completed", "In Progress" and Not Attempted" nor should it. I'm guessing you mean filtered on Dept. and/or Shift.

With that understanding put this in a helper column J2:J6
    Formula: copy to clipboard

    Then this in G8:I10
    Formula: copy to clipboard

    The workbook is attached.

    Does this help?
