Lookup using value and date across multiple worksheets

Hi Folks

Can someone please help?

I have multiple sheets containing data. Each sheet is named as a 4 figure date. EG: 01.09, 02.09, 03.09 - for 1st, 2nd and 3rd September (Using UK dates).

The main sheet, on which I want to put the lookup(V) formula has the date along the the left hand side and an account number in the top left cell. I therefore want to look for the account number on the dated worksheets and pul through the values according to the date on the main sheet. As follows:

a/c: 1065789

01.09 XXX
02.09 XXX
03.09 XXX
etc....

Pulling this data through will also help me to age the values, as they represent movements on the account and therefore I need to do aged analysis of the postings.

I intially thought about using a Vlookup/indirect/index/match - Array formula and set up a list sheet with the names of the dated sheets and then use that list in the array formula. Its not quite working though!

I appreciate VBA would probably be a solution but I have no idea where to start, only just started reading VBA for Dummies! and have not got far!
