    amortization schedule template - adding, not subtracting

    i used the excel template to create an amortization schedule. the first few entries are fine but then the balance begins going UP. i looked at the formulae and it doesn't look like anything has changed. however, the formulae are much more complicated than what i normally use. i just want to be able to track someone's payment. i've attached a copy.     I just rebuilt the schedule because I don't like how that one works. Take a look at this and let me know if it meets your requirements.

    The template you're using most likely came with additional instruction on how to use the table. You need to manually fill in the values for column G and the table will update as you go. The same with column F.

    Also, did you alter the formulas in column E? Why is the 134.28 hard coded into the formula? It should be =[@[TOTAL PAYMENT]]-[@[SCHEDULED PAYMENT]]

    @Craig: i am not aware of any additional instructions. it was a template provided with the software. i fill in column G after a payment is submitted. payment amounts are not always the same. i also update column F. i entered extra payments in column E which automatically deleted the formula that was in there. at one point, the extra payments autofilled so i just put a 0 in it.
