Search and extract specific data from another workbook

    Greetings,

I am organizing large sets of insect collecting data in order to complete my Master's degree. I have a master list of every location I caught an insect which includes details such as: latitude, longitude, elevation, date, ect, ect. Each location in the master list has an unique number code (waypoint) associated with it.
I am currently putting together new workbooks where I want to record locality information (ie. latitude and longitude) for specific species. I currently have a list of waypoints running down a column; is there any way I can make excel search my master list for the correct waypoint and extract the location information to be printed in the new workbook?

I have tried playing around with various functions but I can't seem to get excel to search for one value and print another.
If a function exists for this it will save me a lot of time.

    Thank you all in advance,

    James

    James138, Good morning.

There are a lot of Functions or Combinated functions that can be used to search data using Excel.

    LOOKUP
    VLOOKUP
    HLOOKUP
    MATCH
    INDEX
    INDEX + MATCH
    ETC. ETC.

It is essential to know the sheet layout to be able to determine what is the formula that will give the desired result.
Save an example of your spreadsheet and attach it here.
To attach files go to "GO ADVANCED" button.
At bottom at page there is a management attached files menu.

Remember to show what data you have and what is the concrete result expected.
Real examples are essential for an effective and conclusive help.
