    Manipulating report from Xero

The attached is a report from the online accounting system, Xero. I've manually inserted a column to the left and labelled the rows how I need them which comes from the headings above each group of data. My manually inserted data is in red.

Can anyone come up with a formula for column A so as to automate this? The only data that I need is in the rows which have a date in them - but I need those rows to have their heading in the row as opposed to above them. As you can see sometimes the heading data is in the row one above the rows with the data, sometimes, it's higher....

I'm intrigued to know if this can be done...

you can use autofilter to remove the rows you don't want.
    Here is a VBA version

Thanks. If I read it correctly, this takes out the unwanted rows which is great. It doesn't, I think, add the relevant category to each row which would then enable me to manipulate that data. Any thoughts please?

    Relevant category is still there.
