Is what you're trying to achieve what's in that yellow box?

Ensure you describe your problem clearly, I have little time available to solve these problems and do not appreciate numerous changes to them.
basically i need to make up two different custom number formats my self using codes such as # ?? 0.00 etc.
1) The first code needs to display negative numbers in a bracket instead of with a minus sign and all numbers should be displayed to 2 decimal places and include a leading zero.
2)The second code needs to display the numbers to at least one decimal place but no more than three and the numbers should be aligned by the decimal point.
Hope it makes sense, thanks for your time.

Sorry this task requires me to use the custom function only.
This has the feel of "homework", so I am hesitant to just give you the custom number format. As a nudge in the right direction:
1) Here is a help file with the available number format codes. A similar file should be available in the help for you Excel installation: https://support.office.com/en-us/art...rs=en-US&ad=US
2) For the first case, review the first section where it explains how to have different formats for positive and negative numbers. The example given in this section should only require minor modification to fill the given assignment.
3) For the second case, review the description of the ? character and how it behaves in number formatting.

This is homework and has been driving me crazy for the last two days haha.
Two days is frustrating.
After two days of struggling and research, you must have tried some format codes. What format codes have you tried? What was correct, and what did those codes get wrong?
What have you learned over two days about the 4 sections of a number format code? Which section applies to negative numbers?
What have you learned about the three digit placeholders in number format codes ?,0,#?
Basically you do not get feedback if you get it wrong, only a red flash after submitting the code to indicate you have not met the specification. I have tried numerous codes such as:
0.00_);(0.00)
0.00_);(0)
#,##_);(0)
0.000 ?????
0.00 ???
ill be honest ive been trying all sorts of combination just to pass this, just feels impossible at the moment.
The excell im using is online part of the https://www.itskills.nhs.uk it is very rigid and simplified version and does not show the outcomes of the code i have been entering only a flash to indicate the code is correct or not thus it is very hard to experiment.

Aha, so you are not entering these into Excel to see what each number format code does, you are entering them into some kind of online "test" and it is giving you a 'right/wrong' answer.
Sometimes, I guess that these online things are looking for one specific answer.
IMO, the first format code you listed 0.00_);(0.00) should satisfy the requirements of the 1st problem, so I cannot say why the website indicates it does not. Perhaps they want a different character for "bracket"? Perhaps they want something for the 0 and text sections included? Perhaps they mean something a little different by "leading zero"? Perhyaps they want it extended to include the thousands separator for larger numbers (though the problem does not ask for this)? I cannot say why this is wrong for the specified problem.
For the second one, you are misunderstanding how the ? character works in number format codes. I would suggest you look closer at the example in the help file, maybe try it in Excel some. The example given in the help file is for two digits past the decimal, so it should only require a very small change to make it applicaple to 3 digits past the decimal.
