Help with assigning short cuts to macros

I have 2 workbooks that reside in the same directory and both have similar worksheets and macros. I have a problem with assigning a shortcut key to macros. Once I have a macro shortcut key assigned in workbook A and when I try to use the same shortcut key on a different macro in workbook B excel tells me that key is already assigned and I should select a different key.

I would like to use the same shortcut key in both workbooks which will make it easier for users of the sheets.

When I try to create the macro I am selecting "This WorkBook" in the "Store Macro in:" drop down box.


This is in excel 2003

Is there any solution for my issue other than pick a different shortcut key.

I believe you just can't have the two open at the same time when you are assigning the keys.
