# VLOOKUP and Duplicate Values

1. ## VLOOKUP and Duplicate Values

Good evening all,

I am requesting your expertise once again. I have another project that involves VLOOKUP. Here's what I need:

In tab, RandomNos, the numbers in column A are the Actual CD #s. Each Actual CD # was given a very specific alternate # found in column B, Random CD#.

In tab 2012 and 2013 we will be creating financial tables dealing with these Actual CD #s. In these tabs, I need to fill in column B (Assigned Random #) based on a VLookup formula that will pull that number from the Random CD # (from tab, RandomNos).

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks!!

Here!

Put this on B2 and drag down

=VLOOKUP(A2,RandomNos!\$A\$1:\$B\$423,2,0)

3. ## Re: VLOOKUP and Duplicate Values

Wow, it worked (even with the duplicates)! So, the \$ symbol makes all the difference? Thanks a bunch!!

4. ## Re: VLOOKUP and Duplicate Values

Actually, the \$ locks ranges.. And the duplicates don't matter in such situations..

5. ## Re: VLOOKUP and Duplicate Values

Fantastic! Thanks again.
