Auto inserting

Hello everyone,
i was wondering if there is a formula which could help me associating several words with one defined word, for ex., i have many items..water, milk, juice, and oil. when i write any word of these words...Excel writes "kilo" or "litter" & if i wrote (wood, stone, steel, or cement) Excel writes "ton".....etc
i used =if(or(.....)) but with many items it goes so slow while writing..is there any other way to solve it....thanks

with the word in row 1 and the associated words below it on sheet2

With the word to look up in A2 of sheet1

=INDEX(Sheet2!$A$1:$H$1,SUMPRODUCT((Sheet2!$A$2:$H$10=A2)*COLUMN($A$1:$H$1)))

The assumption is that each word only appears once in the list (i.e. it won't work if water appears under liter and under gallon).
