Conditional Formating to adjacent cell not following down the column

    Hello

I have 2 columns, the one on the left consists of a VLookup returning a number, the right column returns a Sumifs value

Where the number in the right column is greater than the one on the left I want to use conditional formatting to highlight the cell.

I have entered the rule in the first cell and the rule works. The problem occurs when I drag the formula down. Column on the right continues to lock at the first Cell's quantity. I have removed the absolute reference inside the rule and I am still getting the same problem.

    What I am getting is

    D2>C2
    D3>C2
    D4>C2

What I want is for the rule to apply to

    D2>C2
    D3>C3
    D4>C4

Any help would be greatly appreciated

Re: Conditional Formating to adjacent cell not following down the column

Clear your conditional formatting. Select D2:D10000 (or whatever makes you comfortable)

Then enter your conditional formatting rule as if it is for the first selected rule

New rule>"Format only cells that contain" "Greater than" =C2
Format as required and hit OKAY

    That should do it

Not sure why yours isn't working. Go into "Manage Rules" and Edit. Is the cell reference inside quotes? That would do it.

Re: Conditional Formating to adjacent cell not following down the column

    Highlight Both Columns
    Go to Conditional formatting
    New RUle
    Use formula to Determine Rule
    =$D1>$C1
Set the formatting you want (Command Button on bottom right)

    OK

If the rule doesn't work - Conditional Formatting - Manage Rules
Sometimes it changes your formula - edit the formula back to =$D1>$C1
    OK

    It should work
