    Issues with INDIRECT and SUMIFS

    This formula works absolutely fine

    =SUMIFS(INDIRECT("'"&$M$7&"'!"&$M$6),'Raw Data'!A:A,'DB Source'!D14,'Raw Data'!AG:AG,'DB Source'!$K$5,'Raw Data'!AF:AF,"*")

If, however, the last SUMIF condition is anything other that a wildcard, it ceases to work. I have triple checked the underlying data and it should work.

I have also tried replacing the INDIRECT part of the formula with the actual column reference, and it then works fine.

This is driving me nuts, so any pointers would be gladly received. thank you

Please attach a sample workbook. What exactly are you trying to replace the wildcard with?

Thanks for the response. I found some threads elsewhere that suggested turning calculation off and on again and this appears to have fixed it... just hope it won't return

Re: Issues with INDIRECT and SUMIFS

It would appear that you are looking for any value in 'Raw Data'!AF:AF in which case you might try "<>"&"" instead of "*". As Ali stated, it would be helpful to those of us that would like to help, if you provided a small desensitized mock-up of your worksheet. Let me know if you have any questions.
