Problem with using a cell reference in a hyperlink

I have the following formula in an excel spreadsheet:

=HYPERLINK("https://maps.google.com/maps?q="&B4,"View on Google Maps")

with the address in cell B4. When I click on it, it opens the browser but the browser only shows "https://maps.google.com/maps?q". If I remove the friendly name parameter I can see the whole address in the field, but clicking on it still doesn't properly call the address in the browser. What am I doing wrong?

According to my testing that formulation should work.

That being said what's the contents of cell B4 ? I think that's where your problem is.

I'll attach the spreadsheet. Cell B4 has "28 E Washington Ave, McAlester OK".

OK, I figured it out and it was dumb. Apparently when I first entered the hyperlink into the cell, I just entered:

http://maps.google.com/maps?q

So excel created a cell hyperlink to that address. I then went back and entered the formula around the original URL. The formula was fine, but entering the formula didn't change the cell hyperlink. Clicking the cell still took you to http://maps.google.com/maps?q. So I finally right-clicked and selected "remove hyperlink" and everything worked fine.

Turn off automatic hyperlink.
Options - Proofing - Autocorrect Option - Uncheck Internet and network path with hyperlinks
and try again all above
