I have a dependent data validation menu (see attached) so that when the user selects 'Country A' in cell A14, they are presented with six options from the drop down in cell B14, however if they select any other option in A14 they are not given any options in B14.
Rather than showing a blank entry in B14 when selecting any option in A14 other than 'Country A', I'd like to be able to do two things:
- Have B14 automatically display a dash ("-")
- Ideally for the drop down data validation option to not be available in B14, i.e. so it only appears in B14 if the user has selected 'Country A' from A14. e.g. if the user selects 'Country B, C or D in A14, there is no drop down arrow shown in B14 and B14 shows the dash.
I have s small piece of code on the worksheet so that when a different option is selected in A14 it clears the value in B14.
Are 1. and 2. possible to achieve. I can't think of any formulaic way to do this owing to the fact that column B uses data validation? Please Login or Register to view this content.
Many thanks
