Index array formula based on a partial date match

Hi - I am working on a calendar template I found online and would like to modify it to pull notes from any event within a given month. I've been following index formula tutorials without any luck. I think my issue is that I've been trying to match a text value (ex. "January") with an actual date field. Can this be done or do I need to match the formula using two dates (low/high dates; ex. 12/31 and 2/1) to find to pull all event notes within a given month?

I've attached the spreadsheet. I'm trying to display notes from the Daily worksheet of on the Full worksheet in column AA.WD_2016-calendar-with-events.xlsx

Is this array formula what you meant??

Array Formulae are a little different from ordinary formulas in that they MUST be confirmed by pressing CTRL+SHIFT+ENTER to activate the array, not just ENTER.

You will know the array is active when you see curly braces { } appear around the outside of your formula. If you do not CTRL+SHIFT+ENTER you will (almost always) get an error message or an incorrect answer. Press F2 on that cell and try again.

Don't type the curly braces yourself - it won't work...
