    Question Spanish translation formula

    Hello,

Anyone know of a formula to translate a date (month, day, year) into Spanish? So an English version cell would contain (January 6, 2016) and the Spanish would contain (Enero 6, 2016) all without me having to go and translate it manually.

I have a spreadsheet that will automatically insert todays date [=NOW()] when opened. Below in a Spanish translated version I need the date to translate also.

    Thanks

    Re: Spanish translation formula

Ok that will change it to Spanish. But how do I get it to automatically display todays date? if I insert the formula =NOW() I will get todays date, I just need it in Spanish.

    Re: Spanish translation formula

Will the file be used on a PC which is set up to use Spanish in the Regional settings? If so, then it will be translated automatically.

    Hope this helps.

    Pete

EDIT: By the way, =NOW() inserts the date AND the time. If you only want the date then use =TODAY() instead.

    Thanks, Alan, Pete and Popipipo

Anyone know how I can format it to capitalize the month? It displays in all lower case.

    Re: Spanish translation formula

    maybe
    A1: =TODAY()
    B1: =UPPER(TEXT(A1,"[$-C0A]dd mmmm yyyy, dddd")) - 08 ENERO 2016, VIERNES
    or
    B1: =PROPER(TEXT(A1,"[$-C0A]dd mmmm yyyy, dddd")) - 08 Enero 2016, Viernes

    without cell formatting
