    Conditional Formating

    Hello

is there a way of conditional formatting (changing the colour) of a cell if it contains a formula (specifically SUMIF).

I have tried 'cell contains specific word SUMIF' but that doesn't seem to work as the word is in the formula not the value of the cell.

    help please thanks

yes, you would use CF like say the results of the sumif formula are 12 and you wanted to highlight the cell yellow if the results were over 10, you would just set it up like you were setting it up like you usually do it.

    Re: Conditional Formating

Hi Thanks, but i want to highlight it if it contains a formula - not the results of the formula. the formula cells need to be in the same coloum as typed cell and i just want to highlight the formula cells so they are not over typed.

which version of excel you are using, if you have excel 2013 then I think
    =ISNUMBER(SEARCH("sumif",formulatext(A1))) will work

but for 2010, No idea how to use this

    Re: Conditional Formating

    CF:
Use a formula to determine which cells to format:
Format values where this formula is true:
    =ISFORMULA(A1)
    Format as desired.
