    Question INDEX(MATCH(MODE) Formula returning #N/A

I'm trying to search a column of text to return the text that occurs most frequently. My formula (C1) is resulting in #N/A and I can't see the issue. I've recreated in the attached file. Please help!

Thanks so much - as always! Best.Forum.Ever.

Because your formula links to another file which is not attached it is difficult to see the problem. Have you tried to add iferror(your formula),0)

    Re: INDEX(MATCH(MODE) Formula returning #N/A

It still gives me a message about external links but here is what I was recommending in post #2 =IFERROR(INDEX(A:A,MODE(MATCH(A:A,A:A, 0))),0)
    will that work for you?

EDIT: or, what do you expect to see?

    Re: INDEX(MATCH(MODE) Formula returning #N/A

I couldn't get that to work with the A:A, but it led me to suspect excel didn't like the full column as the range, so I shortened it to only the data present and your formula worked like a charm!! Thank you!
