Cells not Autocalculating although my AutoComplete is switched to on

I have been working on excel all day and everything was going fine... I left for a moment to find my cat sitting on the keyboard when I returned and the screen was blinking. Thankfully I had just opened a new sheet, so I closed that one and opened a new one. Everything seems fine EXCEPT functions are not auto-calculating now. I have checked my AutoComplete and that is on. When I make a simple math problem (1a=1, 1b=2, 1c=1a+2b=3) the first function works but it will not work when I make changes (when 1a is changed to 2, 1c does not change to 4).

I have restarted my computer; changed between general, accounting, currency, etc...; opened a brand new sheet; turned off AutoComplete and turned it back on.... no luck at all.

I have an apple with excel version 14.3.9

You say "AutoComplete is on" but you need the Calculations set to Automatic, In the Formulas ribbon Shift M sets it to Manual and Shift A to Automatic
