Will a vlookup work for my customer management spreadsheet?

    Hi all,

I am fairly new to excel and can do most basic functions, however I am looking to take the next step and improve my customer management system using excel.

I'll explain what I am trying to achieve then see if anyone has suggestions.

    ----

Each month I make a table on excel with all my customers who need contacting on various dates in the month. I have customer names, numbers, products they have from me, and various dates entered using the =workday function, so that I know on which dates in the month they need to be contacted.

What I am trying to achieve however, is to configure a formula which on any given day tells me what I need to do with that customer, and any others in the table.

For example, I would like to come in on March 7th, and open the spreadsheet and it tell me I need to Write To J Bloggs today and Phone 2 A Smith on the same day, and then pulls the data inc contact info across to possible another sheet?

I hope that makes sense, any questions please let me know.

    Name - Address - Number - Product - Phone 1 - Write to - Phone 2
    J Bloggs - 1 Example Street - 01234 567890 - IT Service - March 4th - March 7th - March 10th -
    J Smith - 2 Example Street - 01234 567899 - Full Office - March 2nd - March 4th - March 7th -

Attach a sample spreadsheet with expected results, remove any sensitive data.

Ensure you describe your problem clearly, I have little time available to solve these problems and do not appreciate numerous changes to them.

^ Thats the only way I could upload it, sorry!

Basically what would then happen, is I have the =today function on. Each day it's opened, the fields below would be populated by the table above, depending upon which dates match todays date (if that makes sense?)

    Thanks a lot
    Ben

Sorry, forgot to say, would obviously be populated with the customer data, so that I can then print out each method of contact separately and give out to staff respectively.

Easy way to do it is to filter your data on respective columns and print filtered table.

PS. VLOOKUP alone wil not do the work, because it returns only first occurence of given condition. Moreover, it works only if searchec column is the leftmost (returned data are right to searched column) - this could be done with a pair INDEX and MATCH functions. but anyway - first problem persists.
