I have the following table:
Name Dates
Student1 2.2.2016 5.2.2016 18.2.2016
Student2 5.2.2016 6.2.2016 8.2.2016 16.2.2016 29.2.2016
Student3 4.2.2016 6.2.2016 16.2.2016 18.2.2016
etc.
I`m searching for a way to find who attended an a particular day i enter. for example:
date i enter: 6.2.2016
result generated:
Student2
Student3
etc.
Is it possible to do this in excel?

Thank you for the quick reply. I`v already tried this way. My list consists of 80+ students. So in such a list, there are going to be alot of blank cells where students did not attend the class on a given date. Is there a way to have a clean column only with names? without formatting or sorting?
OK, then we can move the formula in post#2 over to column B and put the following array formula* in column A:We could hide the names in column B by setting the font color to the same as the fill color.Please Login or Register to view this content.

Edit: *Array formulas are activated by pressing the Ctrl, Shift and Enter keys simultaneously.

that solves my problem! i`m not that familiar with array formula. I understand the logic but not always syntax.
