    Offset / Multiple Match criteria

    Hi,

Having a challenge getting a lookup to work. Researching Offset appears to be the code required but I can't get this to work so any help appreciated. I am looking to have a multiple reference to a column based on the column title and the row content

i.e. If I enter 'United_Kingdom_Grade' in one cell and '2:1' in another cell it will look up and return B+. Likewise, if I change this to 'Angola Grade' and '12-16' it would return B+. There are more country grades but trying to keep it in concept. Thanks for any and all help.

    United_States_of_America_Grade United_Kingdom_Grade Angola_Grade
    A 1st 16-20
    B+ 2:1 12-16

I hope the query makes sense but any questions, please shout.

Hi and welcome to the forum.
Please upload an example workbook that contains examples of all data permutations, and manually add the results that you expect to see for various inputs. Clearly identify which ranges are data and which are results.

    Hello James
In cell E25 try the following formula:

    Formula: copy to clipboard

    However, I don't see a 12-16 grade for Angola.

You could also replace all the named ranges for the countries with one formula:

    Formula: copy to clipboard
Please Login or Register to view this content.

This would be a dynamic named range based on the selection in E21.

    Hope this helps.

    DBY,

    Thank you for your help.

Have another query, I am looking to have several columns that looks up a university from a drop down from the table and returns the two column headers, Country and continent into different cells. I have attached an example for ease from a poor explanation!

    Help as always greatly appreciated.

    Thanks,

    James

Personally I'd change your data layout and use a Pivot Table - see attached
