Hello and thank you for the help in advance.
I hope I can explain this as easy as possible. I am looking to make an attendance tracker where specific instances are tracked in total. Instead of having a number in the column, I would be using "A" for absence, "L" for late ... etc. I am looking to total how many A's for each person, how many L's for each person. Each A and L would be a value of 1.
If anyone could help me, that would be GREAT! I have my sample attached.
you can use a countif
=COUNTIF(B$2:B$9,"A")
you may want to layout the data differently
Names in the rows and totals at the end or in summary at the bottom
just may be easier to expand - see Layout example
