I have a very long formula that is working perfectly, when I save close and reopen the file instead of the formula I see '=#VALUE!'. It's not only that the formula is not working but is disappearing. The file extension is *.xls
I discovered than changing it to *.xlsm "solve" the problem, nut I'm wondering why is this happening and how to fix it in a regular *.xls file.
Any thoughts??
Does the spreadsheet use a user defined function?

If it is not important to you then it definitely is not important to me.
First, show us the formula. It would be even better if you could attach your file. I know of no reason that a problem should be solved by going from .xls to .xlsm but you might also try converting to .xlsx. If you are using 2011 that should be the default file format anyway--why are you using .xls?
