Maybe this...
=SUMIF(B1:B10,"<>",A1:A10)

Do you mean add up column A if column B is not blank? If so, you can use this in A11:
=SUMIF(B1:B10,"<>",A1:A10)
Hope this helps.

I was looking when I add new rows to Column B it will add the corresponding row in Column A to totals on row 11.
Hopefully this doesn't get to confusing...
Thanks for any help
Did you try the formula, and then put other numbers in column B?
Pete
I think our suggestions do what you want.
Try it and let us know.
I did in the my original document and it didn't work, but I just did in my example and it worked. I will have to make sure I got proper info in my org document.
Thanks for your quick reply
Anthony
Maybe the numbers in your original document are text values that just look like numbers - it depends what you mean by "it didn't work".

For some reason it adding Column E (E6:E8) to the total in D19 rather than D6:D8

They are "Accounting" values
The syntax for SUMIF is SUMIF(condition_range, condition, sum_range).
You need to swap the ranges over (or alternatively change it to SUMIFS, which has the syntax that you are trying to use).
Hope this helps.
Pete
So it should read =SUMIFS(D6:D17,"<>",E6:E17)?
I am getting the formula error when I do so.
Anthony
It should either be:
=SUMIF(E6:E17,"<>",D6:D17)
or:
=SUMIFS(D6:D17,E6:E17,"<>")
Sorry, the syntax is slightly different, with the sum_range first, then the condition_range and condition as a pair (you can have multiple conditions).
Hope this helps.

Pete,
=SUMIF(E6:E17,"<>",D6:D17) WORKED!!
Thank you for sticking with me!
Anthony
Check my edit - I had it wrong for SUMIFS the first time round.
