    SUMIFS using Month

    Hey Guys,

    I am trying to do a SUMIF with multiple criteria from another sheet. I want to sum all rows in a sheet in which it the category matches what I define AND the month matches the month I define. Here is what I have so far...

    =SUMIFS(Register!$D:$D,Register!$C:$C,"Transportation",Register!$A:$A,"MONTH(Register!$A:$A)=6")

    if I remove the MONTH function and specify a specific date that works

    =SUMIFS(Register!$D:$D,Register!$C:$C,"Transportation",Register!$A:$A,"6/15/2015")

    if I try and use a wild card, it does not

    =SUMIFS(Register!$D:$D,Register!$C:$C,"Transportation",Register!$A:$A,"6/15/2015")

    Thanks in advance

    Hi, welcome to teh forum

    Put your data in it's own cell (say, X1), then use this...
    =SUMIFS(Register!$D:$D,Register!$C:$C,"Transportation",Register!$A:$A,$X$1)

    Re: SUMIFS using Month

    Use cells to hold the criteria...

    A1 = Transportation
    B1 = start date like 6/1/2015
    C1 = end date like 6/30/2015

    =SUMIFS(Register!D:D,Register!C:C,A1,Register!A:A,">="&B1,Register!A:A,"<="&C1)

    Well the syntax is correct, no way to tell why it's 'not working' without seeing the data.

    Can you attach a sample book?
