Need help with Sumifs, Index, and match formula!

Hi all,

I am trying to develop a formula that will help me to catageorize certain text cells based on the following criteria:
- Shop (collumn)
- Position (collumn)
and Date (row)

My best guess is to use a sumifs, index, and match formula but i can't quite get it to work!

I need to be able to tally how many of each POSITION in each SHOP based on each/an array of dates.

Attached a sample to show y'all what im talking bout.

Any help is greatly appreciated.

I've added two tables to the attached. First one allows you to specify a date in the yellow cell and the figures will update to reflect that date.
The second one allows you to specify a start and end date and the figures will show staff numbers between, and including, those dates.

Is that anything like what you need?

Sorry John, I duplicated the post yesterday because this one was giving me an error for multiple devices for the first 2 hours it was up. Must have been an issue when posting!
