how to filter and compile information to another worksheet

I think that is a good way to label what i am looking to do. I want to make a grocery list from a worksheet of drop down variables. Attached is the workbook. I would like to take the choices from Sheet 1 (4) and make a grocery list with the selected list/names of food choices and the total amounts needed to purchase on the Grocery List worksheet. What functions would I need to use since Sheet 1 (4) uses drop downs and attached amounts

I tried an =IF statement but it did not work. =IF('Sheet1 (4)'!B:B="chicken breast",'Sheet1 (4)'!C:C,0) was the staement used but I think it was wrong choice since I used vloopup on the meal planning sheet.

Re: how to filter and compile information to another worksheet

Hi welcome to the forum

Using a dropdown is the exact same thing as if you entered it by hand, the only differences being that a DD helps reduce typos and typing, and can be used to restrict entries to certain values. Other than that, you would reference the DD cell the same as a cell you manually entered into.

Having said that, can you show me what a sample answer would look like?
1. Use code tags for VBA.
Your Code
(or use the # button)

Re: how to filter and compile information to another worksheet

would like to choose a weeks worth of meals on sheet 1(4). So i will have 42 meals for the week. I want to create a grocery list based on choices on
sheet 1 (4). there may be 17 out of the 42 meals with chicken breast. There may be 9 out of 42 meals with green beans. I would like to take all the choices
on sheet 1 (4) and compile a grocery list with the total amounts needed. There is a sample menu already set on Sheet 1 (4).
