    Complicated COUNT/ISNUMBER formula help!

Here is the scenario: I'm building a master schedule for the foodservice department of my store. I'd like to get a running total of all full-time and part-time employees as we hire up to our needed numbers. I'd like to use either a COUNT and/or ISNUMBER formula to count all FT positions that have a name entered in its adjacent field. If another function would work better for this, I am open to anything!

Please reference the screenshot with red circled cell ranges. I'd like the formula to calculate the total number of FT people currently hired in cell F3. Thanks so much for the help!

    COUNTIFS should work

    =COUNTIFS(A9:A39,"FT",C9:C39,"?*")

Strangely, that formula works partially. I copied it verbatim and it returned a result of 14, when logically, the result should be 17 (with valid results counted from rows 9-14,19-25,29,31,32,35). Any idea why it would miss three of the rows?

    Thanks,

Check each of those FT cells in column A.
Some of them probably have trailing spaces like "FT "

Or attach a copy of the book instead of a picture.
Pictures are hard to work with because we can't copy and paste the data into our own workbooks to troubleshoot.
