Multiplying by quanitity in parenthesis for COUNT result.

Just wanted to know if anyone on here has had any experience with taking a number with the quantity referenced within parenthesis in one cell and have it extend to as many cells as that would apply to in order to then take a count.


For example:
cell A1
1001(4)

cell A1 cell A2 cell A3 cell A4
1001 1001 1001 1001


At the end, I would just need to know how many of each value I have. Any suggestions?
