    IF Formula trouble

    Hi Guys,

I am trying to use a formula that will display a value if a name is displayed. Its for a charge out sheet for invoicing.

    It will look like this

    A B
    Worker Charge Out Rate
    Tom Smith =IF

I want the formula to display a value if a name is displayed in the worker column however i have many different names at different rates. For example i may have 5 people at $55, 5 People at $65 etc.
The worker column is linked from another sheet so it will be inputed automatically. So i might have tom smith and john matthews at $55. Do i do =IF(A3 = "Tom Smith";"John Matthews", "$55") and just type all the names for people who i want to display $55 then do another formula for the people who i want to display $65?

Can someone lead me in the right direction?

    many thanks legends

    Re: IF Formula trouble

It sounds like you could use a lookup formula.

    See if this helps:

    Re: IF Formula trouble

Hmm im actually trying to this on smartsheet which doesnt have the VLOOKUP formula.

Is there any other way of achieving this other than the lookup?

    Re: IF Formula trouble

I have no experience with smartsheet so I don't know what would or wouldn't work.

    Re: IF Formula trouble

I'm not an expert on SmartSheet but the first requests on having something like VLOOKUP or MATCH available are dated back early 2013.
The response back then was "they are working on it" but to my knowledge "they were then" and "they still are" working on it.

Unfortunately the only way to do something like this is using a nested IF statement.
If you want some support on SmartSheet better to post your question on their Blog or use their support by emailing them at [email protected]
