How do i get a total number of cells that have changed colour based on conditional format

    Hi,

I am trying to total cells based on the colour they changed using conditional formatting. I have tried various ways but it doesnt work.

I want this figure to fire in automatically, not when prompted and not by filtering manually to get the number.

    Thanks!

    Andrew

Color isn't data. Conditional formatting is meant for the human eye.

But CF rules are logical, so you can use the same logic hidden away in your CF formulas to construct normal count functions.

The simplest solution is to move the CF formulas out into new columns where they operate as simple TRUE/FALSE results. You can even hide these new columns. Now do a COUNT on these columns counting the TRUE values.

    Thanks, I will do that...

I was starting to come to the conclusion that CF wouldn't be the way to do it
