    Copy Similar Data

Hi folks and thank you for having me here. I'm pretty much a novice with Excel and i've run into a little bit of a problem which i would love some help with. I'm not sure if this is even possible but i can only ask.

So i have a csv file with hundreds of products in rows, with all data in columns. My ultimate goal is to create a new columns with similarly named products to import as cross-sells.

My products all follow a similar naming convention, so i'm hoping that the common denominator can be used to execute a function to automate the process.

So my example in English is Cell E4 contains my product title, for example Irall Adelle Pyjamas. I would somehow like Cell E5 to search through Column E and find any product titles which match the first 2 words, so the result in Cell E5 would then be Irall Adelle Nightgown.

The first 2 words of each product will correspond to another product across all products, but in some cases there may be 3 or 4 results, Irall Adelle Slippers, Irall Adelle Socks ..

I hope i have made sense and i truly appreciate you even taking the time to read this.

Thank you in advance for any help you may offer.

Thanks .. I followed your instructions so hopefully the 2 files should now be attached. You can see my desired result in Cell E10 in Workbook_Mockup.

    Re: Copy Similar Data

i think you will need VBA to do that ~(I dont know enough VBA to assist)
also to help further is it always the first two words you are comparing

Perhaps other examples in the mockup would help and ensure you get the correct solution

    Re: Copy Similar Data

Thanks for your reply ! Yes it is always the first 2 words, all of the products follow the same naming convention BrandModelItem So i wish to match all items based on BrandModel where the items will create a matching set.

I really don't know VBA either, i'm much more of a php guy, but i feel the easier approach is to edit the css and let the import script do the work, but i may have to resort to writing a function in php to match these up.

Thanks anyway for your time !
