Conditional formatting when there is a formula in the cell

    Hi All.

I have a row of cells which have formulas in (returns numbers, but if the number is zero, it comes back as blank) I need a conditional format that recognises the answers to the formulas, rather than there is some text in the cell.

Ie if the answer to the formula is greater than 0 highlight the cells in blue, if the formula is blank (ie less than 1/blank) then highlight the cells in grey.

I know that your excel skills will find this totally easy, but I am really struggling with this!!

I look forward to seeing all of your fab solutions.

    Cheers

    Donna

    Select the cell, e.g. A1

    Conditional Formatting
    New Rule
    Use a formula to determine...
    2 formulas required

    =(A1=0)
    format as grey

    =(A1<>0)
    format as blue

    Format as required
Use Format painter (paintbrush icon) to copy to other cells

Ensure you describe your problem clearly, I have little time available to solve these problems and do not appreciate numerous changes to them.

Re: Conditional formatting when there is a formula in the cell

    Hi Special-K,

This shades all cells in blue, as it is just recognising that 'something' (text/formula) regardless of the answer is in the cells, rather than reading the answer of the formula and shading based on that!!
    (If that makes sense)

I know this would work if the formulas were not in the cells just the answers.

but thanks for the suggestion, its very much appreciated

    Cheers
