    SUMPRODUCT formula between worksheets

    Hello Folks

I'm currently working on something to convince the older generation in my workplace that excel is a good thing and it can help them, however my limited excel knowledge is hindering me. I did plan on attaching the workbook to this thread but it is too large so ill try and explain the issue I am having.

The workbook currently has two tabs "raw data" and "stats". The raw data tab has information on a whole bunch of reports from the beginning of the year through to the current day, the stats tab has a table that should read from the raw data tab and provide monthly figures.

One of the stats needs to show how many reports in "2016", in "August", were "hazard observations" and were classed as "first age".

The raw data tab has a column for the date, another column to say if the report was a "hazard observation" or an "incident" and another column to say if the report was "first age" or "second age". I need a formula that will look for these four criteria on the raw data tab and give me a number on the stats tab. This is the formula I've been playing with but I can't seem to get the "hazard observation" criteria into the formula:-

    =SUMPRODUCT((ISNUMBER(SEARCH("1st - First Age Reports focus on issues with things",'DASOR DATA'!$I$3:$I$12242)))*(MONTH('DASOR DATA'!$AG$3:$AG$12242)=8)*(YEAR('DASOR DATA'!$AG$3:$AG$12242)=2016))

Whilst this all make perfect sense to me I appreciate there may be lots of unanswered questions which I will try to answer as best I can.

Thank you in advance for any help you may able to give.

Though to say for sure without seeing the data, but have you tried COUNTIFS function?
It would probably be easier if you split your date into year and month columns as well.
