Hi all, thank you for all the help you guys have given in helping me create formulas for my project. The last step (hopefully) which unfortunately I tried, but have no idea how to do...is I want excel to be able to recognize trends of numbers that are decreasing or increasing (the trends must contain at least 3 numbers that aren't equal). And I would like excel to compare the largest number of increasing trends that occur right after each other along with decreasing trends that occur right after each other. As in compare if the largest number in the 2nd trend is smaller or larger or equal to the largest in the 1st trend and same for decreasing trends. Secondarily I would like it to compare the 2nd largest number of the 1st trend to the 2nd largest of the 2nd trend, then 3rd largest and so on. Only positive numbers will be compared to positive numbers and likewise for negative (and for negatives I want to compare absolute values). Lastly, in some trends it won't be 2 decreasing or increasing trends following each other, but a increasing than decreasing than increasing trend. In this case, I would like excel to compare the 2 increasing trends in the fashion described above. I have included a screenshot along with a file for a example. The top left are 2 decreasing trends, to the right increase, decrease, increase trend. And below 2 decreasing trends. As you notice some numbers won't come in order like on row 10 1.1 and -3.6 and like row 16 and 17 some numbers will be equal (rounded numbers that is).
