Need a formula in excel where if in a column first 3 digits are same then copy from above

    Need a formula in excel where if in a column first 3 digits are same then copy from above

    i have multiple names in in one excel column i need if first 3 digits of someone name is same then copy from above otherwise remain same. i have tried this function if(SUMPRODUCT(--(LEFT($A$2:$A$5,3)=LEFT(A2,3)>1,A1,A2)))) but there is some error in this formula.
