    averaging and counting certain rows

I've attached a spreadsheet which lays out my questions having to do with averaging only a certain number of rows in a column, and also how to show a number in one column which is dependent on the most recent number in another column.

    Thank you for your help!

If I understand your question correctly, in D6, enter =COUNTIF($C6:$C$6,"<>0")-SUM($E$6:E6) then fill your formula down

Re: averaging and counting certain rows

Thanks. Yes that works for column D. In Column F I need to get the average of the appropriate number of rows in column C (which is: the number of rows above and including the current row, up to the row just below the last row in Column E which contains a number above 0).

This is calculating the average price of shares currently owned.

    Thanks so much!

Note: I have closed this thread and started a new one with a clearer description of the problem.
