Issue with wildcard in SumIfs function

Hi! So I have a column (D) with cells containing codes such as: XXX-18-RET-001 and a different column (A) containing shorter codes such as R1. I would like to sum all of the dollar entries (located in column H) that have that specific short code (R1) and have "RET" within the longer code. I have pasted my sumifs statement and am wondering why it doesn't work ... I used the * wildcard around the string of interest, but when I hit enter after finishing the function, it yields #VALUE. Help??!

=SUMIFS(H11:H999,A11:A999,"R1",D11:D999,"*RET*")

Didn't work :/ Doesn't yield #VALUE but doesn't give the correct answer either

I'm retrying it with what I had done previously, and it seems to be working now. Thank you though!
