Custom Format/Copy-Paste

I have a column of cells (column C) that someone entered a custom format of “00-00000-000”
Reason: When performing data entry, they do not have to enter the dashes. When you look in the cell, you can see the dashes (of course) and when you look in the formula bar, you cannot see the dashes (of course). I want to be able to copy and paste the info including the dashes, not only in the cell, but the formula bar as well. Can this be done?

Try to see if this helps you
Use a helper column (I suppose D) and convert the value with this formula
=TEXT(C2,"00-00000-000")
