interest calculations for delayed payments made in parts.

I want to calculate the interest on delayed payments made in part, adding up the accured payment along. For ex. say 1st installment is due in 30 days, next in 60 days, next in 90 days and so on, for Rs. 2,00,000/- each (amount may vary). The 1st payment is made on 90th day for Rs.1,00,000 , 60 days past due. Total payment now due is 3,00,000/- (1,00,000 for previous date and 2,00,000 for second instalment). Now, I have to calculate interest on 2,00,000 for 60 days, and additional interest on 2,00,000+1,00,000 till such period that the payment is made on reducing balance. Down the line, the interest is to be calculated for multiple instalments for varied periods. How do i put a formula to this. Hope I am clear.

I dont think you have understood the question. The links direct to the site which has a lot of ads. Thank you for that. And the files that are attached have a simple amortization formula. I do not want the amortization table. I suggest you go through the question again and think. for amortization, the payment amount is fixed, period is fixed, i.e. every month. What I want is, interest calculated on the basis delayed time (varied and staggered) and balance overdue (reducing balance).

    Dear JeteMc,

Have attached the file via GO ADVANCED>manage attachement. I have mentioned the desired result in the sheet.
Please note that the payment amount and the period will not be constant, and there can be multiple payments due at a given point in time,
which may be overdue for varied periods.

Please let me know if I am not clear.

    Thanks

Looks as if the table in columns D:I do what you are asking unless I am missing something.
One thing that I might offer is that there is a set of finance videos from Highline College on youtube. I am including a link to one that specifically mentions delayed payments (beginning at the 4:58 mark).
