    Excel multiplication

    Hello Everyone!

I'm having trouble with a basic excel calculation.

    D E F G H
    500.0 46.4 16 11 500.0

    Column D & E are figures I'm manually entering.
    F has the sum E/2.9
G has the sum =(D1/E1) (no decimal places)
H has the sum =(E1*G1) (1 decimal place)

As you can see the calculation is H is incorrect, any ideas? I feel it is something to do with multiplying the formula in G. If I manually put a figure in G the calculation in H will be correct.

    Any thoughts?

    Re: Excel multiplication

Even if you display the results of those calculations as integers, the underlying values are still fractional. You need to change the formulae as follows:

    F1: =ROUND(E1/2.9,0)

    G1: =ROUND(D1/E1,0)

    H1: =ROUND(E1*G1,1)

    Hope this helps.

    Pete

    Re: Excel multiplication

If by G you mean it is integer, then yes it is wrong but i suspect you have G formatted to show 0 decimal places so it "appears" to be 11 whereas it is actually 10.7759 ( to 4 decimal places).

If really want G to be 11 then use =ROUND(D1/E1)
