    Combining data

    Hello

I'm looking for some help in combining data.

I work at a warehouse that processes orders which we will get from the customer. At the moment we process one order at a time. So a person has to walk to pick all the articles and then bring those articles to a packing station. Then he starts with the next order. Not very efficient. Thats why we would like to pick more orders at the same time. and the best way to do that is to combine orders with the same articles. The nice thing is that there are orders which are exactly the same.
So lets put this story in context with the file.

In tab 1 the raw data is stored. Each order (in this file an order is a delivery) can have more positions each with its own article. So for example order 700329941 has 6 order lines.
When you look at order 700330119 and 700330124 and 700330125. They all have 125 lines with exactly the same articles. Even the next few orders are almost the same.

So what I would like is to create a formula which will check which orders are exactly the same without to compare each order manually. Or which checks which orders are for 90% or 80% etc. the same.

    Re: Combining data

If you produced a summary table on another sheet with a unique list of orders against the unique list of articles, showing how many articles each order needs, then you can easily sum each article and thus know how many of those you need to pick up. Is that a suitable way forward for you? If so, I'll put something together to show how it can be done.

    Hope this helps.

    Re: Combining data

Problem is that I need to pick the complete order (system restraints). I can not pick up the total amount of each article because then I have to figure out for like 100 orders where that article belongs to.

I need to find combinations of orders which are exactly the same or almost the same so I can put them in the system together in a batch. This way the person who needs to pick up the articles will visit a location with an article only once instead of multipe times when you pick up order for order.

    Re: Combining data

Okay, but I went ahead anyway and produced it along the lines outlined above. I'm going out for lunch soon, so I thought I'd pass this onto you to see if it helps.

I've added 3 columns to your sheet and these help to produce the summary table in the Pick_List sheet. I've only copied the formulae in that sheet across a few columns and down a few rows, but you can see what I had in mind. I would have thought that you can re-construct the orders using the Pick_List sheet.

I don't have time to explain what each formula does or how it works, but if you get back to me I can give more details when I get back.

    Hope this helps.

I see where you are going and I think it is a very good step that you give each article an unique number which you call object. I also understand the formulae work.
I just dont understand how to reconstruct the orders in a way that I can get a result which shows which orders are exactly the same or the same for {give value} %
