Excel 2010 - use a formula on a pivot table values to color cells on the column next to it

    Hi,

i would like to use "use a formula to determine which cells to format" or some other option to test each value on a values column (test if it is 0 or 1) and then color the value column next to it.
1 should be green, 0 should be red.

    How can i do that?

    See attached pic.

    Can you use conditional formatting?

I can use conditional formatting, it is what i prefer to do.
but i am not able to have the finish dates columns get colors by the nearby number column.
Meaning, i want that if on the number (0/1) i have "0" than the date will get a red background. if it has "1" than the date will get green background.
Any way to do that with conditional formatting?

Attach a sample workbook. Make sure there is just enough data to demonstrate your need. Include a BEFORE sheet and an AFTER sheet in the workbook if needed to show the process you're trying to complete or automate. Make sure your desired results are shown, mock them up manually if necessary.

    Remember to desensitize the data.

Click on GO ADVANCED and then scroll down to Manage Attachments to open the upload window.

Take a look at the conditional formatting rules for a pivot table from a question that was solved some time back. The values in the corresponding column are 1 and 2. After selecting the range of cells to which I wanted the rules applied, I set up conditional formatting using two rules. If this isn't helpful, please upload a sample (a two or three row pivot table should be enough) of the file from which the screenshot was made so that members can test their proposed solutions.

First, i can't share the data so much due to the company's privacy/security restrictions.
Second, the report has a data connection to SQL server DB to pull the data (Project Server data) so it will probably not get refreshed and you will get errors trying to open it.

I am adding another screen shot of the current status.

Yeah, this is why we say "SAMPLE" workbook, as we know people cant share all their data. The point is that you get a representative example of your problem so we can solve that SO you can implement that solution in your real data/workbook.

    hi,

    JeteMC - your suggestion worked.

the formula had to be related to the column title cell with dollar signs next to the column without the rows. e.g. $L&12 = 1 --> Green.

    Thanks alot!!!
