    Timestamp showing 1/0/1900

Hi , I want to display the current timestamp for each entry into a column, however when I use =IF(B3 <> "",IF(A3="",NOW(),A3),"") I get 1/0/1900 and even though I changed the format cells option to custom date time , I get the same result. Please help, I want to know what is wrong.

    Thanks!

What type of data is in A3 and B3?

It seems to me that the result you get as 1/0/1900 is when A3 cell has 0
