    index match

    In the attached sample i'm looking to index a job number based on billing month & year. I'm having trouble and i'm just not getting this right. Any help is appreciated.

    this is what i have but i'm getting a #value error.

    That's an array formula, so you need to commit it using the key combination of Ctrl-Shift-Enter (CSE), rather than the usual < Enter >. Select the cell, press F2 as if to edit the formula, then hold down the CTRL and SHIFT keys while hitting Enter, then you can copy it down as normal.

    Or, if you have a lot of data to go through, try his regular version of your formula...
    =INDEX(Table4[JOB '#],MATCH($K$6&$K$8,INDEX(Table4[YEAR]&Table4[MONTH],0),0))

    ARRAY formulas can become resource-intense
