Excel Formulas Have Stopped Calculating

My excel spreadsheets have stopped calculating formulas that were written a long time ago. I entered some new data and the sum stated the same as it was before. Then I clicked the "save" button because I figured I would close the program and open it again to see if that helped... When I clicked the save button the formula calculated. So I tested it. I entered new data... nothing. I clicked the save button and it calculated. Also, if I enter a new formula, it works fine. but when I enter new data for that formula to calculate (we are just talking additions here) it doesn't work. This has only been happening for a day or so. What should I do?

That sounds like calculation has been set to manual. Go into Excel options, find calculation options and make sure that automatic is selected.

It could be that calculation has been left set to manual by mistake if VBA has been used on it, I remember this happening to me once and it took me a while to realise.

Go to the menu at the top left, then go to excel options, then the formulas tab and make sure calculation is set to automatic and not manual.

If its not that then I have no idea.
